January Events

    Resume Critique
    The UW ActSci Club is excited to present the first event of the term! This is the perfect opportunity to have your resume critiqued by an experienced upper-year student. You can receive valuable feedback and advice on organization, effective sentence structure or anything else.

    Mock Interviews
    Come out to this fantastic event presented by the UW ActSci Club and participate in a Mock Interview with experienced upper-year students. This is a great opportunity to practice your interview skills and receive feedback and strategies for job-specific questions.

  1. February 1 6-9PM
    Beginning of Term
    This semester's Beginning of Term event will be hosted in the MC Comfy Lounge on February 1st. Make sure to come out to get some free bubble tea and Popeye's, play fun board games and mingle with other Act Sci students! See you there!
  2. February 7 5:30-7 PM
    What Canada Can Learn from Microinsurance
    This presentation by industry expert Denis Garand will help you understand what microinsurance is, the importance of its development, and what we can learn from it. Shawarma Catering will also be provided! Please note that this event is open to everyone, you don't have to be a member to attend.

    Industry Overview
    Attend our panel of industry experienced co-op students on Wednesday February 14th, in MC Comfy. Following the panel and Q&A, mentees will have the chance to meet and mingle with their mentor. Snacks will be provided!

    Excel Tutorial
    Interested in adding Excel experience to your resume? This is your chance! Come out to develop your knowledge and enjoy yummy pastries and sandwiches from the Math C&D.

March Events

    VBA Tutorial
    We are proud to present our VBA Tutorial for beginners, co-hosted with UW FARMSA on Thursday March 1st! Come out and enjoy free snacks and beverages while learning the core functionality of Visual Basic for Applications. **This event is open to all members of FARMSA and ACTSCI Club. Registration is available at the door.
  2. March 3 3-6:30 PM
    SOA's Student Outreach Day
    The SOA President, Mike Lombardi, will be giving a presentation, and following, there will be a panel discussion with several SOA representatives. We will have activities to interactively engage with the SOA representatives, and food will be provided from top of the line platters at the University Club!

    Exam P Tutorial Part 1
    Are you pursuing an Actuarial career? One of the most important qualifications for an entry-level candidate is exam progress so we will be hosting a part 1 P Exam Tutorial presented by Professor Diana Skrzydlo on March 7th! There will be food and drinks provided at the event.

    Exam P Tutorial Part 2
    Part 2 of the Exam P Tutorial will be presented by Professor Surya Banerjee on March 14th. There will be food and drinks provided. Come out to prepare for Exam P!

    Desjardins Trivia Night
    Join UW Actsci Club and several Desjardins employees for a fun-filled night of trivia! Trivia games will be held during the first hour of this event, followed by an hour to network and enjoy the free pizza and drinks. This event is open to everyone, no membership required. We hope to see you there!

    Student Panel
    Come out to our Student Panel hosted by UW ActSci Club on March 27th! This is a great opportunity to learn valuable advice and gain knowledge in the Actuarial industry and career experiences from 4th year students. Sushi Burritos will be served.

    End of Term Wings Night
    To celebrate a successful term, FARMSA is hosting an end of term Wings Night at Morty's exclusively for FARMSA, ActSci, and Stats Club members! Come out on March 28th at 5pm for free wings and a night of socializing! Spots are limited so make sure to register. See you there!
